Mid-Season Guide | Tips & ideas to keep you inspired

Our Mid-Season Essentials
We hope everyone is managing to stay dry amongst this crazy spring weather! We were all excited when things started to heat up and started to pack away our warmer wears, to begrudgingly drag them all out (*again*) for the coming week.

So we thought, why not create a guide and share some tips on how to deal with the ‘every season in a day’ state of play, something we were very used to in Melbourne, which seems to be happening more and more everywhere else 🙂

As we brave the wind, rain and transition from chilly to sunny here are a some of our lifestyle accessory tips to get you through the unpredictable weeks.

The Power of Layering
A good idea when you don’t know what the weather has in stock is light layers. There’s few ways to make it classier than a tailored midseason coat and cardigan. Why not give your ensemble that finishing touch with waisted belts,? Add a Belt Bag, hang a Wristlet or a Lunar. So many options 🙂

We were very inspired when we came across MSHEM, an Australian womenswear fashion label.

They’ve nailed the trans-season looks, some of which feature your favourite H&W accessories.

A Simple Scarf

Quality staples are absolute necessity. One that’s always been on ‘the list’ is printed silk scarves. As a neckerchief, head scarf, bag/hair accessory or just over your shoulders, they’ll always work and compliment your outfit.

Satin

Satins are excellent trans-seasonal pieces. What better way to feel comfortable while looking fabulous than in silk slips. Check out , Vince’s stunning satin pieces.

Not only is a trusty belt an absolute staple but so is the perfect getaway bag. If you are planning your summer holiday or a weekend road trip already, when suitcases aren’t necessary, style is!

Hills & West want to assist you in your swift escape with our Weekender Bag. This timeless bag is a quality investment you’ll definitely use all year round.

Add Green

Trying to keep the home looking fresh but you don’t know what’s missing?

We do, nothing more refreshing than walking into a space with lively greenery.

Head down to your local nursery and pick up a Maidenhair Fern, perfect for you desk or kitchen bench. This glowing little plant requires little maintenance and lights up any dull space. Home it in a unique pot for some flare.

Get Scandi

At Hill & West we are suckers for a Scandinavian design.

Our tips to pull together any home that’ll make you feel cosy but not too hot is; a good light throw, some lovely scented candles, sheepskin rugs and lots of pillows! Check out our sheepskin rugs that are super cosy and cowhide pillows to make any space look inviting.

Jazz It Up!

Whats better then dressing up in your high boots and long coat you’ve been dying to wear all year and spend the night out at a Jazz Bar. This one’s a personal favourite,  Venue 505  in Surry Hills.  A quaint little hole in the wall full of board games and cocktails accompanied by improvised jazz bands! We guarantee a cracking night!
